After the Russo-Japanese War in the early 1900s, a former soldier, Saichi Sugimoto, went in search of gold to keep a promise. He promised his dying friends that he would support his widow so she could get medical treatment from abroad. He was known as “Sugimoto the Immortal” because he was the one who survived the battle. He heard of an undiscovered treasure located in Hokkaido. The only map available is in the form of a tattoo on a prisoner who escaped the prison. While searching, he found the dead body of that prisoner and was attacked by a bear. An Aninu Girl whose father died protecting her from that prisoner saved his life. Realising their goals align and, they both decided to search for the treasure together.
